Even if there were pics of the sprues, would it justify $207+ for a box of 20 common Goblins?!?!?!

Nope but at least you could see what you're getting.

Its one thing if it was in a sealed box, but any open boxes, I would like to see what is in it before I make a bid. Regardless 200 dollars is way too much for my blood. For 200 dollars, I know that I could get most of an army from a place like Front Rank or BTD and be on my way to start up a nice Imperial or Brettonian army that can be used in a historical setting as well.

There is the possibility that this wasn't what it appeared to be and the reason for the lack of photos was that the "goblin sprues" were a code for something else.

    Just sayin'.

I would not be surprised if someone was trying to sell something illicit to another buyer "in the know." It may be risky if you don't actually have the sprues for someone foolish enough to overbid the preferred buyer in this case. Were I to find contraband in a box that my models were supposed to be in, you can bet that it goes to the police along with a report for mail fraud. The add has been eaten by the internet monster, and I don't want to use the way back machine to look it up again. If I remember, they just showed the box for the miniatures, which is pretty common.

I'd say that's pretty likely. I'm sure there was some backchannel "ask the seller" communication going on.

The chief value of an auction site is there's a third party to keep the deal honest. I'm sure I'm not the only one on this site who contacted a vendor about other inventory in stock and we "fixed" a buy it now deal so that we could complete the transaction while maintaining the site's safeguards.

This would be doubly important in gray areas of commerce.

Using miniatures boxes to ship certain agricultural products that are legal in many jurisdictions but otherwise illegal to ship seems the obvious explanation to me.

And as we've seen, the cover story is not entirely absurd! GW fans seem to have a limitless pain threshold for purchase prices.
