    TOTAL = 768 points

    THE BLOODCALLER CLAN GATHERS

In the far north of the Chaos Wastelands, the Bloodcaller Clan has existed in the frigid cold and desolation for nearly 80 years. Father Kurgan Bloodcaller wandered to the land in years past when he was first called to serve his master, never questioning why the Blood God would ask such a sacrifice of him. Over the next few decades, Kurgan strengthened the clan with his own blood, by capturing woman from his various raids and breeding them for sons, as well as breeding strong hounds. Daughters are fed to the hounds in a ritualistic manner, as well as the weak sons. In the Kurgan Clan, only the strong survive.

In the 60th year, Kurgan finally realized why Khorne had sent him north, why he favored him with so many wives and such prosperity. That year his harem had already birthed nearly 70 new males, and so the day seemed unremarkable at first. One of his harlots went into labor, but this labor lasted for days. Soon, Kurgan began to consider the prospect that he would need to feed her to the hounds to quiet the camp. As he lifted her up, the child inside of her ripped through her abdomen and immediately began feasting on what was left of his mother. Lifting the child up he saw the mark of Khorne emblazoned on his head. Taking this as a sign he tossed the child into a pit that contained three of his fiercest warhounds, only to witness MacDeath ripped the hounds to pieces. Over the next few years MacDeath would prove his worthiness, even slaying twenty one of his jealous brothers who attempted to murder him.

In his twentieth year MacDeath entered the tent of his father to tell him that he had been visited by a bestial demon, who had given him the command of Khorne to take the Clan and begin heading south, unifying the clans of the North and slaying those who refused to submit.

    THE BASTION OF BILESTONE

Tumeric Bilestone grudgingly shifted his decaying mass away from the pile of corpses that lay in front of his small army. The stench of decay and buzzing of flies was like a feast to him, and brought on such a feeling of ecstasy. It was for these moments that he now existed, purging the life force of those mortals who refused the indulgence of his master, the Great Lord Nurgle. He and his band now found themselves in the extreme north, every day growing closer to their masters lair. How many years had passed? How many years since he was known as the second son of the renowned Preceptor Franz Feurbach of the Knights Panther? The years no longer mattered. All that mattered now was helping to spread the Lord Nurgles pestilence to the world, to bring the glory of his god to the unbelievers. Some of his men moved forward to grab bodies from the pile. They would lay a few of them in Tumerics tent this evening, so that he may spend more time in their decayed embrace. His men knew him well.

As he slept that evening, it was not the sleep of man. His dreams were plagued by images and strange voices. Finally, through the haze of foggy dreams, one voice was heard clearly, the voice of his lord. "Tumeric," it boomed. "You must gather your forces, the time has come!" He awoke in a great sweat, the sweet smell of the maggot covered bodies permeating the room. It was finally time. He would prove to his lord that he could rise to greater heights, perhaps even to become the Everchosen himself!

    Re: Mousekiller's Mortals of Chaos

    MACDEATH, CHOSEN OF KHORNE

Born of a harlot of Kurgan's Harem, MacDeath was an unnatural birth from the beginning. After days of labor, the infant tore through the stomach of his mother and feasted upon her flesh as his first meal. Kurgan immediately bowed in reverence when he saw his own child gifted with the mark of Khorne emblazoned on his forehead. Knowing full well that this was a sign from Khorne that this child was destined for great things, and that Khorne would let no harm come to the boy, he brought three of his fiercest war hounds to a pit and dropped the baby boy inside. MacDeath, even in his infancy, landed feet first and brutally strangled all three mutts to death, proceeding to suckle blood as if feeding from his mother when he was finished. His father then fashioned a great cloak from the hides of the hounds and gifted it to his son. This victory would be but the first of many that Khorne would challenge him with.

During his tenth year, MacDeath encountered a monstrous demon of a horse. After four days of fierce battle, MacDeath finally wrestled the beast to the ground and forced it into submission. Over the next years a great resentment grew in the tribe from Kurgans favoritism of his son, and in his 16th year twenty one of his brothers entered his tent to slay him, only to find death for themselves. Now the skulls of his brothers decorate his horse and cloak, a deadly reminder to all of his kin of who now rules the clan.
In his twentieth year, a bestial demon visited MacDeath while he was out hunting. The Demon itself challenged him to personal combat and a clash of immense power emerged. The Blood Thirster, filled with rage as these demons tend to be, charged forward bellowing. MacDeath waited for the charge patiently, sidestepping at the last moment to leap upon the monsters back and using every muscle he possessed to grasp the horns protruding from the demons head wrenched its head unnaturally, snapping its neck. Both beast and man slumped to the ground, and when MacDeath looked up again the Demon was gone, replaced with a monstrous ethereal face which he knew to be the spirit of Khorne.

“You will be my champion in the times to come!” The voice of Khorne bellowed. “Take the bastards of Kurgan forward and unite the tribes. Those who do not submit to you will add their skulls to my throne.” Motioning towards the ground at MacDeath’s feet, the presence spoke again. “I gift you this blade with the spirit of this greater Demon. Go now south MacDeath, and return only when the world once again bows to the will of the Chaos Gods!”

    KURGAN'S BRED

These warhounds have been raised by Kurgan to be the fiercest, toughest, and most controllable animals in all the northland. Fed only human flesh since birth (mostly from the undesirable children and women of Kurgans Harem), these monstrosities are larger by far than any normal hound and often grow giant mutations gifted from the chaos gods themselves.

    DEATH DEALERS
Some of Kurgans breeding have been raised to handle horses, helping to round up mutts and potential "wives" over the long years. The Death Dealers are led by Angus Bloodflank, one of Kurgans more bloodthirsty. He delights in the ringing of battle, as he knows that with battle comes the ability for him to kill.

    KURGANS BASTARDS

Bred from the women of his own harem, Kurgans Bastards make up the brunt of his tribe. They are all his children, as any children birthed to any one else are immediately sacrificed to the gods, as are any female children. Kurgan often delights in feeding these offspring to his dogs.

The Bastards have been raised to be pure killers as well, matching the ferocity of the Bred, as any who exhibit weakness along the way are also sacrificed. Bearing down in combat with massive, two handed weapons of their own choosing, they have proven the match of many tribes of the northern reaches.

Great looking unit MK. The dark clothing and armour really contrast nicely with the light skin tones.

@Codsticker: Thank you very much! I am still working to better balance that aspect of my painting.

    CERBERUS, SPAWN OF CHAOS

This is the most ferocious of all of Kurgans hounds, worshipped by some of his breeding to be a gift from Khorne himself. This monstrosity has the heads of three hounds, a mane of poisonous snakes, and the tale of a dragon. Spawned to the world in the same moment as MacDeath himself, the howls of Cerberus' mother could be piercing the night with the screams of agony of MacDeaths', creating the perfect harmony to welcome both beasts into the world. And, just like MacDeaths mother, Cerberus' mother did not survive the journey. When the kennel master entered the following day he found Cerberus had eaten nearly half of the body.

Great stuff. Once again, you have me feeling nostalgic for the old days, because this is great, semi-old school style work and it is done beautifully. Well done.

@Loki Ragnarok: Thanks mate! I definitely grew up in the baby stages of Games Workshop and the art of fantasy overall, so it is nice to still have those memories tucked into my head waiting to transition to a medium

Now that I am doing this huge Chaos Army for commission, I cannot sit idly by and not add to my own horde at the same time. I am probably adding too much to my plate, but I suppose it is what I do...

Great looking bunch so far! Indeed it catches that great vibe from the older Chaos armies which I prefer over the current one.

    BEASTS OF BROTHEIM, CHAOS WARHOUNDS
    Completed: 3 June, 2022
    Manufacturer: Games Workshop

The Beasts of Brotheim terrorize the countryside of northern Kislev, pouncing on the pitiful herds of cattle and sheep belonging to what pitiful souls still exist from the once great empire. Brotheim itself is a town that was also once part of the empire, but now sits north of the current border and has been consumed by the effects of the Chaos Waste. What is significant, and interesting in terms of chaos, is that all four of the Chaos Gods followers gravitate towards the city, and have even been known to pack together. This is the case with the Beasts of Brotheim, which have show influence from all the gods within the pack.

ABRAX THE BLOODY, CHAMPION OF KHORNE

Known also as the Bloody Wanderer, Abrax earned renown during the Blackened Winter. A dark sorcerous cloud covered all of Norsca, withering the life from crops and cattle alike. Out of hunger and desperation, the tribes of the north fell mercilessly upon one another in order to survive. It was one such battle that Abrax truly lost any sanity he still clung to, for, as the battle raged on, Abrax could no longer tell friend from foe. All he knew was his axe and his shield, and with every new head taken he could feel his power growing. When the sun finally rose, not a noised could be heard aside from the silent inhale of the Champion, as Abrax had slaughtered all, enemy and friend, down to the last woman and child.

For many years he wandered the wastes, his reputation growing. Some of these tales are found in tales across Norsca, but even Abrax could no longer tell story from reality. On the slopes of Splinter Rock he slew the Daemon Lord Goreprince with the beasts own blade, Y'khggan, claiming the endowed axe for his own. Above the Howling Gorge he fought the Dragon Shurrek, claiming its mighty skull in the name of Khorne. Every new tribe he encountered he annihilated, killing hundreds and hundreds in the name of the blood god.

At the Shrine of a Thousand Eyes he came upon a massive battle in progress. In the end, he found himself fighting a regiment of Khorne Warriors known as the Blood Wolves. For three days they fought, the regiment holding fast against the onslaught of Abrax. Finally, some of the regiment turned upon the weaker members, slaying them in a bloody rage and bowing before the might of Abrax. Abrax excepted their unquestioning loyalty. In a vision during battle, Abrax saw the image of Khorne, who spoke to him and commanded him to take his army south to the uncorrupted lands. Abrax did this, adding to the ranks of his growing army. At the battle of Craggy Ridge he accepted the fealty of the Slaughtermen of Khorne. In the Bile Lands, a group of Dragon Ogres called the Sons of Krakanrok also pledged allegiance to mighty warrior.

And so the horde grows, and Abrax marches.

    Re: Mousekiller's Mortals of Chaos

    THE BLOODWOLF CLAN

The Bloodwolves of Khorne come from Kurgan stock, some of the most ruthless and bloodthirsty warriors to ever exist. It is said that hundreds of years ago the clan was beset by a pack of rabid, six legged animals who succeeded in slaughtering every fourth warrior in the clan. Though small in stature, the razor sharp teeth and ferocious nature of these beasts impressed the clan leader, and he ordered the remaining animals captured. Since then, the Bloodwolves have bred and harnessed these creatures in battle.

When the leader of the clan is killed, the clan will wander the wastes searching for battle until they find a new, worthy leader. Sometimes the chief will emerge from within the tribes own ranks, and other times they find outsiders who are blessed by Khorne and endowed with great prowess. This was the case when Abrax the Bloodthirst found these warriors. They had thrown themselves into battle near the Shrine of a Thousand Eyes, with the single minded bloodlust that they would die at the hands of the Tzeentchian warrior who guarded the shrine or one amongst them would rise and assume leadership. Abrax instead came, falling upon the guardians of the shrine first and utterly destroying them. He then turned his bloodlust on the Bloodwolves, and for three days and three nights the warriors fought the champion. By the third day, it became clear to the Bloodwolves that this was indeed a chosen warrior of the blood god, and they turned upon those of their brethren who still fought, killing them. From that day forward they have devoted complete loyalty to Abrax, so long as he continues to lead the band against worthy adversaries.

    SKARR BLOODWRATH, Champion of Khorne

Skarr Bloodwrath's, of the Skaramor Tribe in the Chaos Wastes, drew the eye of his god when he took the head of his own chieftan, Dak'thar. Dak'thar was famed for standing twice the height of a normal man, and carrying the strength of ten. Having been gifted with the facial features of a Bloodthirster, Dak'thar was well on his way to ascending into daemonhood when the Skarr set upon and sliced the gifted head from his shoulders. From here his reputation, and legend, grew. It was Skarr that cut down the Ungolor of the Tahmaks, took the twin skulls of the Greatspawn Wythlych and hurling its defeated body from the top of the Bloodfire Falls, and defeated the Great Daemon T'shy'thniss beneath the Infinite Arch.

Skarr's true legend grows from his first re-birth. After defeating the nine-hundred and ninety-nine followers of Vydas the Liar, the Sorcerer used his Tzeentchian magic to create an illusion. As Skarr attacked the illusion Vydas struck from behind with his great crystal blade, slicing Bloodwrath in two. Khorne was so displeased with the cowardly act, that he drew the blood of the nine hundred and ninety-nine to create a new body for Skarr, one scarred with the battles of all he had slain. As his mortal body burned, Skarr rose from the ashes and flung his chained weapon towards Vydas, pulling the craven sorcerer into his embrace and tearing his throat out with his bare teeth. Pushing the corpse away, he used his axe to lop the head from Vydas. Such disdain did he have for the sorcerer, that he impaled the skull, downwards, on a cruel spike.

It is said that Skarr has been re-birthed in this way many times since that fateful day, as he leads the Skullreapers to the ever battle. But now, at the beckoning of Khorne, Bloodwrath and his Skaramor tribe march south, toward Brotheim.
