    Basing warmachines...

Do you base them? If so, how?
I have a certain dwarf cannon I would like to base (because it looks better), but am unsure what to use.

I'll probably go for a large round base (the large flat one). Suggestions?

PS. If this is in the wrong section, please feel free to move it.

    Re: Basing warmachines...

Pretty sure most conventional warmachines should go on 40x40 or 50x50. They're not totally necessary, but just put them on what fits if need be.

I meant the large round base.

I'm pretty sure I've seen it done like that before, but I want to make sure I don't go against any rules.

    *Steals thread* :P

40x40 or 50x50 Won't work for doomwheels or the retro screaming bell will they? The stegadon base is for my WLC anyway. That doesn't get into combat so it's just for adding scenery etc, still looking for confirmation on what a Doomwheel will need and im sure the bell should be 2 inch by 3 correct?

Doomwheel would probably be best on a chariot base or a custom made suitable base as it's rather wide.

Screaming bell should be on a 40x60mm base(make one yourself) to represent the size of 6 skaven in a unit.

My friend Neil started using old CD's as bases. His ork Rocklobba fits it very well. Just cover the hole with some paper then prime it and paint/flock it and presto! Instant free war machine base.

I think round bases look really bad in warhammer, and they also make it harder to fit the machine between two units.

Most of my dwarf machines and some of my Empire ones are on 50 by 50mm square bases. If they fit on a 40 by 40, so much the better.

    Re: Basing warmachines...

I don´t base cannons and such, but immovable warmachines like the casket of souls or the anvil of doom get a round base.
Single miniatures on quadratic bases just don´t look good, IMO.

The new Skarsnik has a 40x60 so I could hope that they release that on the website = \

War Machine bases are the only only use I have ever found for the free AOL trials that get given out.

    Re: Basing warmachines...

I use mostly 50mm bases for 'small' warmachines such as spear chukkas and canons etc. for rock lobbaz I'm going with chariot bases (100x50mm).

round bases definitely look bad at whf. the only models that are ok with round bases are fanatics.
