    The Kitchen Sink project log

I have a lot of 40k projects I work in the cracks in my Bretonnian Fantasy Army painting schedule. I decided I should keep track of them here.

Here you'll find mostly IG and DA stuff.

The first entry will be a female IG squad for my IG force. Here are the assembled minis with the GS cleanup.

Here's my progress so far. I was most interested in how the heads would paint up, as if they fail, the whole mini fails. So, here the girls are, heads complete.

Since I'm happy with the faces, I'll get working on the rest of the bodies ASAP.

Awesome idea! The berets are a very nice touch, very femenine. Why are the bodies that white colour? Looking forward to more progress.

Glad you like them so far.

The casts are from a gaming group I belong to, not for sale.

Thanks for the kind words guys, glad you like them. The Sculptor was very good, the casting left something to be desired, but it's not professional so there's only so much that can be expected..

I agree ForgeWorld could really do a great job with their talent levels. I've never understood why GW or FW don't just put one female body on each sprue.

The best thing is the finished models fit right into my existing army.

I like these models a lot... Does only the Inquisition use females in battle?
Inquisitor Konig: At Warhammer World they serve Bugman's Beer, but I don't think they brew it there...
Avatine Crusader: Well duh, they aren't actualy dwarfs.

Ahh, my whole army, the 304th Cadian Mechanized Brigade, has been seconded to the Inquisition, but they still fight most often as a Guard formation.

Nice female guard, there isnt enough mixed gender guard regiments about these days, and especially as nearly all the books about guard are about regiments that are mixed and have women in. Nice scupts

I don't know any of the casting info. The guy to ask is Dr. Thunder on these forums. He will know more details.

Re: The Kitchen Sink project log

Thought I'd revive this for an update on some 40k stuff, this time a Deathwing squad.

Here's the position they were in sitting on their shelf, making me feel guilty for working on fantasy...

Here's the update after a couple of days' work.

The blacks are done, the greens, and the reds. The bone colors are basecoated and the golds are still not started.

The next step is to base coat the golds, give the bone and golds a brown wash, then go back in and highlight, hitting certain details like nail heads and campaign marking last.

After these guys are done, I have a Belial to convert, his command squad to build and paint, and then finally an inherited landraider to clean up, bling up, and paint.

That's all in between my IG army updates and my Fantasy Bretonnian painting.

Lol, I have to explain this every time I show them. After the Heresy the Deathwing stayed in black armor like the Ravenwing. Some thousands (3-7) of years later, they changed to white armor after the Plains World incident. That gives us thousands of years post Heresy where the Deathwing had Black armor. So my army is from some time in the past but not 10,000 years ago.

As an update, got all metallics done tonight, and the wash on the bone stuff. Campaign badges also done. Will try and highlight the bone areas tomorrow, then finish the bases and seal them. Pics tomorrow no matter where I end up, but hopefully the finished squad.

    Well, the squad is finished.

    C and C welcome.

My next project is a Belial conversion, and I'll post pics at the starting point this weekend.
