The battle of five armies is based on events from the book : The Hobbit, so including rohirrim, gondorians, mordor orcs etc wouldnt be a good idea, because then it would be about the war of the ring. That is my opinion, what are your thoughts?

You mean GW including them or a random hobbyist converting their own? (What is the point of this topic?)
I think it's fine, and could be fun, to convert small-scale models to represent your favourite characters from the war of the ring so you can play larger battles of them.
GW won't ever make "war of the ring era" minis to fit with the BofA ones because it's a totally separate license or something (not to mention they need the time and money to spend on LotR SBG!).

Well, I for one would love to see the game expand by adding in new units. That way we can have specific Elf, Dwarf, Human, Goblin (Mountain) and Goblin (Plain Rider) army selectors.
It would mean an army selector for each of the titular Five Armies![]()
MY FICTION:
Eoheran, A Hero's Death - The tale of an Eldar Ranger, set a mission on an Imperial world.
Phanta Claws - Evil stirring in the Underhive of Necromunda.
Perfect World - A Norse Champion of Chaos, fighting for his vision of utopia.
Sithian's Jewel - A horror story told through Inquisitorial reports.
it wouldnt be a profitable way of investing resources.
They be better off putting all that effort into remaking chaos dwarfes or suomething like that.
That's not a very optimistic attitude to have in a Battle of Five Armies forum...

I think that Rick Priestly's aspiration was to release a series of box sets under the banner of 'Great Battles of Middle-earth'.
This would have been nice but probably will forever remain an aspiration.
Ho hum.
'Some who have read the book, or at any rate have reviewed it, have found it boring, absurd, or contemptible; and I have no cause to complain, since I have similar opinions of their works.' JRR Tolkien.
Yep, that pretty much tallies with what Andy Hall told me at Games Day last year.

I would love to fight massive battles (like Helm's Deep or Pelennor Fields) in an BoFA style format. I totally think they should expand it to include the War of the Ring, although they would need to make a different name for this new form of epic LotR and probably new rules to deal with siege etc.
Well, Copplestone casting has released some great miniatures to represent the forces of the LotR trilogy. I have been thinking of starting them myself. I don't have Bo5A but I do have Warmaster, so I will be using that.

He said he is going to release "city knights and half-elf knights" soon. I can't wait.
